I Knitted A Sweater But Forgot to Film it 🙈
after losing everything after a boating misadventure, i had enough money to buy a bicycle. i became a bike messenger in boston. this required about fifty miles of bicycling in every sort of weather. similar to offshore sailing, really. you can acclimate to almost any smell. ask any old hippie about patchouli. i rejected cotton sweaters as they became too heavy. wool was good with water, but was too warm, even in winter. i settled on acrylic or any other cheapo synthetic sweater. because they were quick drying! the upside of the noisome smell (i always imagined the invisible stink rays!) was that i was always given a little extra space in the elevators.
This is so wholesome
Lovely!!
You may already be aware of comparable brands but you might be interested in mukishoes. Their footwear includes the use of a variety of materials including veg-tan leather, wool, cork, hemp, organic cotton, and natural rubber. The lining of their shoes is usually or always a natural material and often recycled or fashioned from off cuts and such. I think they're a very impressive company
Really excellent research - thank you! venE more interesting (in my weird opinion) is why/how Cotton can sometimes perform as badly as polyester in the stink arena. I have bought a few cotton t-shirts in the past and they start to smell within about 1 hour of putting them on, They are generally cheaper, lighter and smoother than normal cotton t-shirt material, so you might be forgiven for thinkingthey artificial fibres, but they are labelled 100% cotton and are sold by reputable clothing shops. My feeling is that the *weave* might be responsible..?
My worst month was 23 days of migraine. I have reduced it to only a small handful of days per month now but I have had to make a LOT of changes in my life. Chronic migraine is NO joke. :(
This is GORGEOUS!!! Makes me want to try.
Thank you and best of luck with your move.
The problem with cotton is that it needs a lot of water to grow. And it takes land that could have been used to grow vegetables. So we should buy quality cotton that can be used for a long time. Some bad/ cheap children’s clothes look bad after a few washes. High quality clothes can be used by many children and still look nice. Often more than you know when bought at a second hand shop.
But some polyester clothes can be worn for years and years. Don’t seem to be worn out. And don’t stink. And some other feel uncomfortable/ clammy to use when it’s hot.
Very educational, well-researched, and presented! Bravo!
I used to work at a Red Cross Second hand store here in Sweden, in the textile and clothing department. We were not allowed to sell blankets and other items labelled as moth-proof due to the chemicals. We were even instructed to put them in the trash and not the fabric recycle bins where we put items too stained or damaged to sell.
Very interesting. I wish this information was more easily accessible.
To a sociologist, systemic issues and personal choices are indeed related. Look up C Wright Mills and the Sociological Imagination, that's kind of one of the main points of the entire discipline.
How do Sports Detergents even work?
not seeing this in the comments but I'm wondering if those bacteria are in part also 'eating' the oil-based fibres themselves?
Outside of eco-friendly methods, would dry cleaning manage to penetrate into the fibres or not?
Stilig bukse😊 Jeg liker måten du fikser utfordringer på😊
This is so so beautiful and I'm suddenly itching to make something silly and unnecessary pretty and fun out of scraps. It's so wholesome and this whole project just gave me so much joy to watch, so thank you. Also, I just wanted to say I adore the sweater you're wearing in this video. May I ask if it's one of your knits?
The two dots tip!!!! Thank you! 🤯
There’s a saying 天衣無縫that means “perfect/flawless” is a Chinese idiom literally meaning heavenly seamless cloth. It must feel divine holding, touching or just looking at Dhaka muslin.
I'm glad you're getting fewer migraines now.
Absolutely mesmerizing! I'm in awe both of you and the people a long time ago who came up with this
I clicked this video by accident but I'm glad I did
جميلة ❤️🌸
I have a question, what length circular needles do you need for the As you like it shawl?
I think they’re 100 cm, maybe 120 cm. You may be able to cram if onto an 80 cm one if your yarn is not too thick, but it’ll be difficult to see how big if is getting.
Knowing why can be such a big relief. Congratulations.
Sadly, I had to do garden work and could not participate.
What's that cool decorative herringbone stitching on your dark brown smokkr? Also, wonderful video :)
Stripeycrayons asked about soothing cat purrs at the end of the stream, I remembered you can find a Furry Friend noise generator in mYnOiSeDOTnEt, hope that helps!
Absolutely love this and what a great tutorial. Also fantastic reference links. Thank you.
I'd loove this video, thank you for teaching about it. Do you have any information about felt, I 'd like to know when people started to use it, have you heard any legend about it?
Brilliant thank you
One day I will sew like you! Your needlework is stunning!
Thank you so much. Always happy to listen to you while I craft. This week is embroidering a coat.
Wow! Thanks! This perfectly explains a piece I'm writing.
This chill and craft session was so peaceful that I fell asleep! Thanks friends for the cosy vibes.
Brilliant project, love how it turned out. My grandmother spent one winter sewing a crazy quilt for us, it is over 50 years old and still looks great!!!❤❤❤
I really like the style of just two very long over the shoulder straps + hoops so they do both the diagonal and the horizontal securing. I’ll have to try that when I make a new apron!! Btw love all your videos! They are informative/entertaining/interesting so thank you for taking the time to research, film and share with the world.
Awesome?
Sorry....Awesome!!!!!!
The organic chemistry behind these reactions is fascinating and woke up my dormant O Chem student brain cells. Thanks for sharing the molecular structures in your video. The emojis were a fun touch. 😊
This series is so interesting and I am learning so much. Thanks for sharing!
Borre is truly one of the best markets in Europe, lovely organiers, wonderful area and the ambiance and comraderie is exceptional. I was so sad to miss it this year due to health reasons.
And plesse don't forget purses that are made from plastic. If they get wet several times they have the worst smell. I threw away all purses that were made of plastic. That smell was ATROCIOUS.
Okay... But... Which natural dye are you hinting at?
Lol, there are several. Indigo is one of them, but there isn’t enough research yet for conclusive comments. Amazing though! ❤️
@@KristineVike Catch me putting indigo dyed skeins throughout my stash now. (And lavender satchels too)
One time I thought I would out-logic my chronic fatigue syndrome. Nope.

I had no idea that rayon, viscose and modal were the same thing. Years ago I wore a rayon garment or two, but they invariably shrank in the wash and so were discarded. I have worn cotton/modal blends more recently, but I will not buy any more. I discovered linen a few years ago, and most of my wardrobe that was purchased since 2019 is either linen, cotton, or (when available) organic cotton. Wool is, of course, a wonderful thing, but I am allergic to it and cashmere (more likely to the dyes and other chemicals, since undyed sheepskin slippers don’t bother me) so can only wear wool as outer garments. Unfortunately some garments like brassieres, attractive underpants, and shapewear are only available made from synthetics, at least in part. I appreciate your very informative video.
Thank you. Lovely video.
Organic clothing is available as are organic yarns and fabrics.
Choosing organic is not something everyone has access to or can afford. Buying second-hand is a fantastic way to reduce overall consumption and divert products from the landfill. When they do, I would rather they have access to information about their choices than judge them for not making a different choice.
@@KristineVike Strange response.
